About the Design

The crescent-shaped form seen in the design of the mahi‘ole, the chief’s feathered helmet. Hoaka is the traditional fighting formation of ancient warrior battalions — it is the sudden flash of light as seem in lightning storms. Hoaka is dark and light, curved and sharp — it is a form that transcends traditional and contemporary time in Hawaii and the Pacific.
